$15.95

You are at once beguiled by the sweet girl whose command of the guitar is only out shined by song writing skills. Not to be fooled by that sweet little one as her songs sing of not just the sweetness of life but the bitterness of relationships. This set shines a light on her songs and vocals as she is joined on stage by Belinda Baldwin who adds harmony and dimension to a brilliant set.

Description

Anna Page @ 12 Bar Club, London

It was always a pleasure to see Anna take the stage at the legendary 12 Bar Club in London. You are at once beguiled by the sweet girl whose command of the guitar is only out shined by song writing skills. Not to be fooled by that sweet little one as her songs sing of not just the sweetness of life but the bitterness of relationships. The May 27, 2001 set shines a light on her songs and vocals as she is joined on stage by Belinda Baldwin who adds harmony and dimension to a brilliant set. The last song of the set is done with L’il Lou Psyche.

Also here is the solo show, just Anna on stage, from Sep 29, 2000. A super intimate set as Anna certainly has a great report with the fans at the club. She is talking to them like the show was in her living room. Great set, lots of great songs, a real gem.

Who is Anna Page

In the 90s, after working as a make-up artist on pop videos and as a dancer on Channel 4’s The Word, Anna felt inspired to form Camden based all-girl band Deluxor with her friend Elaine Hills. She then worked on a predominantly studio-based project with the producer of her single, Paul Sampson, but subsequently decided to go solo for a few years, before forming her own group, The Anna Page Band. In the nineties the band played frequently around London, often at Alan McGee’s club, Death Disco, as he played her song ‘Addicted’ on his Radio One ‘One World’ show a number of times.

After all this Anna completed a Masters degree in songwriting at Bath Spa University and finally released a solo album Stars and Rockets in 2015. Anna is also a music teacher, artist, writer, philosopher and promoter, as well as an occasional model and actress. Her acting work includes appearances in The White Stripes and Mick Jagger pop videos and on BBC2 The Singer.

She’s currently working on a second solo album and a book and art exhibition, both entitled How The Universe Works.

“Those of us who saw Anna’s early KK appearance on a Friday evening will have marked her out immediately as One To Watch. Her songs and persona are refreshingly honest and bullshit free, while her self-deprecating asides are a front for some pungent and pertinent observations about life. Ecstasy is a perfect illustration, Anna effortlessly skewering the misogynist ego with a raised eyebrow and unambiguous language. Already Autumn is just a great song about the fear that life’s passing you by, while After It Happens is the best song about meaningless sex I’ve heard in ages. Hungover Morning speaks for itself, exemplifying the truism that there’s many a true word spoken in jest. Anna Page has talent and star quality to burn” (Kashmir Klub live review)
