Gina Birch X Raincoats At 12 Bar Club London For OnlineTV
It seems Gina Birch came along to the 12 Bar Club in Soho, London and did a set at the urging of Amy Rigby. While the set was short it was sweet and allowed us all to once again visit the talent of this great artist. Many people may remember her from the work she did with The Raincoats but these days she is more about making videos of all kinds for other artists. In fact she did a video for one of our favorite bands, The Libertines, but it should not be confused with our The Libertines DVD which was a show at 12 Bar Club.
While this set is short since it was just something that Amy Rigby gave up for her to do a show at 12 Bar Club, it is sweet non the less. We are always proud to help along the strong feminist artists and particular woman led bands like All the Queens Men or Rita Lynch.
Who is Gina Birch
Born in 1955 in Nottingham, UK her real name is Georgina Mary Birch and she is an English musician and filmmaker, best known as a founding member of The Raincoats. But on top of that she is an amazing video producer and editor for such acts as daisy chainsaw, 1990s, new order, The Raincoats, Dorothy, Beth Orton, Garageland, Long Blondes, Mcalmont Butler, Mavro, The Libertines, The Veils, The Pogues, Dee Dee Ramone, Eddi Reader, Colour of Love, and Eastern Lane, She has been In groups Dorothy, Red Krayola, The Hangovers, and of course The Raincoats. This video cannot compare with what Gina produces as it was over 2 decades ago with that technology on a single camera in low light at a night club. But it is a historical epic video.
