Daniel Jeanrenaud Kingsnake 12 Bar Club, London
Incredible rocker! Jeanrenaud from the band The Kingsnakes came to play an intimate 40 minute solo set at the 12 Bar Club, London and he carried the stage like a full band. He may not have had a duck tail hair cut but he had the sideburns, and rocker hairdoo, along with his guitar. He wailed for almost an hour to an appreciative crowd.
What we got was pure rockabilly, like our favorites Sonny George, Daniel carried it off with perfection with every strum. Poetic and limber he knows how to be the front man.
Who is Daniel Jeanrenaud
Daniel Jeanrenaud is a rock & roll legend who plays either solo, or with his band The Camden Cats, With a sound and spirit straight of the old-school juke joints where rock & roll was born, Daniel Jeanrenaud is one of last real carriers of that authentic, explosive sound and attitude.
At 18 years old, the young Marseilles born guitar-slinger moved to San Francisco to form the hard-hitting blues-rockabilly outfit The Kingsnakes with former members of psychedelic heroes The Flamin’ Groovies. Under Jeanrenaud’s leadership The Kingsnakes became West Coast cult legends and ended up touring with rock & roll royalty like Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Bo Diddley. He moved back to France and re-formed The Kingsnakes with super-fan, Manu Chao, as part of the band.
But Jeanrenaud truly made his mark on the underground of the British music scene when he moved to London and took up his 11-year residency at the infamous semi-legal drinking den at the back of Marathon Kebab Shop on the Chalk Farm Road. This scene attracted cameo appearances and fanatical praise from the likes of Jack White, Amy Winehouse, Paul Weller, and Kevin Shields.
