The huge difference in the styles come into perfect focus as the extreme energy of Peter Chance is offset by the calm, secure, and tasteful Laura Ogar. Laura blends a variety of sounds with great aplomb augmenting the powerful showmanship of Chance.
These concerts are full sets. Here we find the The Novellas as a full band. Normally the Novellas perform as an acoustic duo with just Peter Chance and Laura Ogar. Yet again we can see the power, timing, and extreme emotions that pour out of Peter and manifest themselves in a great show. This is not someone who stands there droning on a microphone but feels every note he plays.
I had the great opportunity to watch this group over 3 years in their growth. Watched as Laura went to London and Peter’s emotions helped create an abundance of songs, but left him sad and missing Laura. It was a pleasure to see Laura return and join Peter on stage for many more performances. Most of those at the legendary Sidewalk Cafe at Lach’s Anti-Folk nights.
