Jason McNiff takes the stage at 12 Bar Club, London for an amazing performance. Enchanting the crowd with his intricate guitar picking and songs that reach deep into life’s many trials and tribulations. You can almost feel the songs as he actuates the intensity of the lyrics with poignant and varied guitar riffs that make the point if you did not get it from the lyrics.
The February performance is strictly solo and his songs and performance are impeccable. In the Nov 2000 performance he is joined by another guitarist and vocalist whose amazing riffs and harmonies moved along to augment the already amazing songs and vocals by Jason McNiff.
I guess what I like most about these concerts is the intensity of Jason McNiff. He does not just play his music or sing his songs, he splays them out with an energy that sometimes comes to the edge of musical vengeance. Who is Jason McNiff
Jason McNiff was born Bradford, England, 1974. He studied French and Russian at the University of Nottingham, but failed to graduate. He moved to London in ’96 to pursue a life in music and released his first record, ‘Off the Rails‘, in 2000. There followed ‘Nobody’s Son‘ in 2003 and ‘Another Man‘ in 2006 with an anthology ‘In My Time‘ in 2008.
London-based singer-songwriter McNiff began recording in the year 2000. His sound seems to go back to the fantastic folk rock and roll troubadours from the 60s and 70s. With his influence from traditional American songwriters such as Tim Hardin, Townes Van Zandt and Bob Dylan, McNiff offers soulful ballads with intricate imagery and psychological subtlety.
These concerts at the legendary 12 Bar Club, London present you with some of the earliest sets done by McNiff as he fleshed out his first two releases.
