Two fabulous concerts by Helen Watson live at the 12 bar club. The early 1999 concert is a solo gig and she performs a great solo show. The Oct 2000 show is not all solo as she has friends come onstage to perform with her. The Oct 2000 show has some experimental video as the cameraman was new and testing what the camera could do. There is a lot of black and white as well as infra red. The music is there and great so no worries.

Performance from 1999 is a hallmark concert. Helen Watson is a unique performer whose versatile voice and idiosyncratic songs blur the boundaries between blues, soul, jazz and folk. Throughout her long and varied career she’s collaborated with some of the best musicians in the business – Albert Lee, Little Feat, the Eagles’ Bernie Leadon, Andy Fairweather Low – toured with the legendary Joe Cocker, sung with Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt. But the historical 12 Bar Club and OnlineTV.com broadcasts held their place in history.

Who is Helen Watson

Helen Watson is a British singer-songwriter from Manchester. She has been described as a folk-soul / blues / jazz / R & B artist.
During the 1970s and 1980s, she was a singer with blues band Loose Lips and a member of the Manchester quartet Well Knit Frames. Her debut album, Blue Slipper, was released in 1987. A second album, The Weather Inside, came out in 1989. In the early 90s, she spent three years working with Christine Collister, Barb Jungr and Michael Parker as part of Hell Bent Heaven Bound, which toured the USA, Canada and Europe and released an album of songs from the show in 1993. Watson was also a founder member of the all-female group Daphne’s Flight, (with Christine Collister, Melanie Harrold, Julie Matthews, and Chris While), releasing an eponymous album in 1995.
