Gargantua Soul is the heart, the soul, the very core guiding the group. Their song writing and tight performance brought about through the individual and combined talent of the entire group is dazzling.

This 3 concert DVD documents the rise of this band from 1997 to 2001 at the Spiral Lounge and Acme Underground as recorded by OnlineTV. The songs, the performance, the gaining energy as the group ascended to become one of the top unsigned bands in the nation, or the world for that matter. Most spectacular is the evolution of The Painted Man, Kris Keyes. From the beginning in 1997, where the only sign was sculpted hair, to the 1998 concert where he starts to add primitive black paint to his body, finally using full body color and paint in the 2001 concert, there is a true evolution for Kris and the whole band as they grew to become a force in the Nu Metal realm.

Gargantua Soul bring a message in their songs that people relate to in a positive way. While they can touch on some harsh subjects everything they sing about is transcending while opening the mind and body to feel what is around us all. What struck me most about Kris and the band was how tight they were, as friends, and as musicians. Gargantua Soul’s songs are not simplistic three cord melodies, they are intricate woven tapestries of harmonic joy mixed with messages from the heart.
